Diversity within Organizations

Understand how to embrace diversity, not only today, but EVERY day. In your company and in your personal life, bringing education and awareness to the community.

Diversity means plurality, difference or variety and applies to different areas: cultural, biological, ethnic, linguistic, racial or religious. The concept has been much discussed today due to recent events related to racism, homophobia and xenophobia. Nowadays, it is not enough to just stand up for a cause if your daily actions and practices do not match the discourse. It is necessary to plant the seed of diversity within EVERYTHING, adopting the same behavior in personal and professional life.

A brand or company will not thrive if it is not 100% aligned with a transparent positioning and without distinctions of gender, race, religion or nationality. Values ​​such as equality, ethics, respect, sustainability, social, cultural and environmental awareness must guide not only the posture within the company, but also the personal life of employees, increasingly unifying both worlds.

The discussion on the topic is extremely important, but the actions must be implemented daily within the institutions and in life as a whole. Plurality is enriching and allows the issue to be approached from different perspectives, delivering solutions from different points of view and places of speech.

Prioritizing diversity in companies is no longer an alternative, it has become a NEED. With technological advances the world is increasingly globalized, borderless and multicultural. How can I transform my work environment into a place that is welcoming to differences? How do companies and employees engage with diversity not only internally, but also EXTERNALLY?

Working with diversity within the corporate world does not mean prioritizing the selection of certain groups of people, but rather considering and embracing everyone without distinction or prejudice. Both the company and the contractor have to feel that they add and receive value so that there are no limitations, but rather expansion and increased productivity and performance.

It is becoming increasingly essential to focus on diversity as a way to maximize your results and look not only inside the company, but also outside – the community where it operates. What ends up being favorable internally, also reflects outwardly reaching potential consumer markets, bringing not only financial but also cultural benefits. With diversity within all teams, innovation is present not only in one department, but throughout the company.

Worldwide, there are significant efforts by influential people to actually embrace the cause of diversity, through philanthropy or other attitudes. Player Michael Jordan, the richest athlete in the world, decided to allocate all profits from his film “The Last Dance” to charity and the non-profit organization Friends of the Children. He also pledged to donate $ 100 million over a decade to combat racism as an initiative by Jordan Brand, his brand. The action was reported on the line’s Instagram and Nike’s official website.

Another initiative to combat racism was that of Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of the social network Reddit for 15 years and husband of Serena Williams resigned, asked to resign from his position requesting a black replacement. In addition, the businessman donated R$ 5 million to the campaign Colin Kaepernick, a former social activist quarterback and a symbol of the struggle for black rights in the USA.

 

 

HOW DO WE EMBRACE THE CAUSE?

NTICS Projects values ​​and implements diversity not only in the team of collaborators, but also by developing a specific project focusing on the theme. The PED (Education and Diversity Program) that takes place in public schools acting directly in education with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Through activities, teachers and students are empowered and invited to reflect on the reality in which they live, problems faced and possible solutions for a more egalitarian society.

Based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals with an emphasis on the SDGs: 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reducing Inequalities), 15 (Land Life) and 17 (Partnerships and Means of Implementation) the objective The project, developed by NTICS, is to contribute to the formation of conscientious citizens, capable of facing the challenges of the socio-environmental reality, with inclusion, diversity, women’s empowerment and actions to reduce inequalities.

All projects are generally approved by means of incentive laws or sponsored by companies using marketing funds and have a duration of 06 months to 01 year. NTICS is also a supporter of Refúgio 343, a humanitarian organization that enables the interiorization and socioeconomic reintegration of Venezuelan immigrants into the country.
